Get your tickets ready! A new tag-team has surfaced and they are hungry! They go by The New BloodLine. The tag-team consists of Florida rapper, Brinson and Long Island rapper, Jarred Allstar. Their only goal is to “Acknowledge Him.” That is God.
If you are a wrestling fan, love clean hip hop and love Jesus, this album is for you. It’s a love letter to wrestling fans while staying true to their faith.
CONCEPT
As the title of the album suggests, The New BloodLine’s goal is to “Acknowledge Him.” Brinson and Jarred are wrestling fans and Christians. All the songs and titles are inspired by professional wrestling.
As they rap about their stories, testimonies and worship, they infuse punchlines and metaphors referencing wrestling. I’ll go more into that in the lyrics section.
It’s safe to say this a nerdcore album with Christian themes.
PRODUCTION
“Acknowledge Him” blends boom-bap, trap, and anthem theme. It’s a balancing act like the League of Nations. Each sound along with the lyrics, painted a story in a wrestling ring for the listener.
Castles in the Sky is an anthem that opens the album with a declaration that heaven will be like castles in the sky with just them individually. It set the tone of what the album is going to be about. From the wrestling-themed lyrics to proclaiming the Kingdom of Heaven.
The boom-bap tracks are in your face. The New BloodLine chose violence with these beats! Songs like Live 08, Coals of Fire III & Attitude Era are hard bars over neckbreaking beats. Live 08 lowkey sounds like Grindin by Clipse.
No Effort and For the Faith are bangers! From the moment they kick in, you can’t help but want to jump around and throw your hands in the air. They’re easily the two most high-energy tracks on the project, in my opnion, bringing an infectious and exhilarating vibe. The production on both is top-notch, with a driving beat and catchy melodies that just won’t quit.
LYRICS
To start of this section I’m going to quote my favorite bars from four songs:
Tell these Dark Orders its a Judgement Day Spirit Squad inner circle its the New Day These dudes with attitudes lose to the Four Horsemen The alliance stone cold, word to Steve Austin
— Jarred Allstar, Castles in the Sky
It’s off the top Doomsday Device Only worship Christ its Doomsday Advice I’m a lionheart, Walls of Jericho I got the lion’s heart, praying for all my foes
— Brinson, Acknowledge Him
Me and Al Snow was after the samething Val Venis with the ladies never give them the ring Never Queen of the ring , only stay in the fling Make a hit rock bottom, I was Jerry The King
— Brinson, Attitude Era
I knew John 3:16 before Austin Legend Killer, kicking my idols before Orton …. Christ flipped tables before Devon … Two bibles, they ask me "why two, Jay? (Y2J)
— Jarred Allstar, Attitude Era
These are few of the lyrics from the album. They reference pro-wrestling while rapping their stories. As an avid wrestling fan, I caught EVERY single bar. However, they mostly reference wrestlers from the 90’s and 2000’s and sometimes the modern day wrestlers. As I said in the beginning of the review, this album is a love letter to wrestling fans in the faith.
FINAL THOUGHTS
This is a knockout debut from The New BloodLine! “Acknowledge Him” is a unique and refreshing entry in the Christian hip-hop scene. It masterfully blends faith and wrestling, creating an album that’s both entertaining and inspiring. The production is top-notch. And the lyrics are packed with clever wrestling references that will delight any fan of the squared circle.
While the heavy emphasis on 90s and 2000s wrestling might resonate most strongly with older fans, the core message of faith and perseverance is universal. The New BloodLine has proven they’re a force to be reckoned with, and I can’t wait to see what they do next.
