The long-awaited debut album of Bronx-born, Newark-based rapper and pastor Prophet Link has finally dropped. After months of anticipation, teasers, and previews, has the album lived up to its hype?
The album features a slew of heavy hitters. Names you may recognize such as ATTAM, Selah The Corner, Bumps INF, DoItAll (Lords of The Underground), Co-Campbell, and more are featured on the album.
Let’s get to work!

CONCEPT
For anyone who knows Prophet Link, his ministry has always been to nurture communities in rural and urban areas of the East Coast. Through his company Be Wise Inc. birthed a movement called “Be Wise NYC” (Nurture Your Community).
Inspired by the works he’s done in the community, and his testimony, “Hands & Feet” documents Link’s story from the pits to the palace (Reaping Joy, I Love NY, CODA) and his transition from NYC to NJ (Planted, Reaping Joy).
PRODUCTION
This is a New York hip-hop album! Mainly produced by Staten Island native Rigz, each song has a New York rhythmic flavor in the beats. From gritty boom-bap (I ❤️ NY, Planted) to hard-hitting drill (Be Wise NYC). Each song’s story is supported with rhythmic, hypnotizing production that’ll keep your ear’s attention to each song. The songs’ moods connect with Link’s lyrics, flow, and delivery.
Link puts his heart on Reaping Joy as he raps about the struggles he faces. Backed by an atmospheric dark background with hard-hitting 808’s Link captures the struggles of life as well as the victory he has in Jesus. This is why, personally, it is my favorite track on the album.
Another example is I ❤️ NY. It captures the heart of NYC through the boom-bap gritty beat along with Link’s poetic flow. Any true hip-hop head and New Yorker — like Yours Truly — would appreciate this song.
LYRICS
Link is known for his poetic flow, storytelling, and transparency. Hands & Feet is a chapter of Link’s current story. It’s not only his debut album, it's his new season. The album's title is a result of all the hard work he puts in his community, church, friends, and family. Link tells it all in the 9 tracks presented.
When you listen to the album, you’ll note that each song is intentionally sequenced. A nod to a quote by Link called “Wisdom on Purpose.” The album starts with a frustration about the state of his community in the form of spoken word, then goes into the goals he has for his communities. Tracks 1 & 4 open the album with Link’s mission: to Nurture Communities (Be Wise NYC)
Link shows his lyricism in songs like I ❤️ NY & These Hands. Link opens I ❤️ NY with “I from NYC, the birthplace of Hip H.O.P. where a grip is in the switch HD, where you can’t play D.” The wordplay in this line is crazy! He enters the song about what NYC is known for through clever wordplay and paints with his words.
The album changes to his testimony and story after Reaping Joy. He is personal throughout the rest of the album. He talks about his story of being a Child of a Deaf Adult (CODA), choosing joy through the storms (Reaping Joy), his frustrations with the state of the church, and the lies being told (Angry). He concludes the album with Planted, sharing the testimony of his transition from NYC to NJ. Link raps:
A menace, but with a quotient, violent behavior going both ways, led to a lonely road with, not many to oppose it, I was hopeless, now I’m speaking hope and growth, hands to the plow, til in the ground, I’m planted!”
That’s a bar of victory from the ashes!
FINAL THOUGHTS
Link delivered a masterpiece with his debut album. In just nine tracks, he told his story through dope production and lyrics. Some are not my favs, but most of the songs go hard! The album is full of passion for his community through inspiration from God. I’d call this album an anthem for outreach.
