NYC Christian Hip-Hop Part 2: The Resurgence

On January 21, 2023, I attended an event called Kingdom Rising 2. I arrived expecting the usual fun turn-up and ministry, I left feeling rejuvenated. It was that night when CHH in NYC was in a resurgence. Sure, we had events such as Revive, Barcode, and the Kingdom Choice Awards on Broadway (which was historic), but something about Kingdom Rising 2 made me feel like it was the early 2010s of NYC CHH again.

Put together by ATTAM (All Things To All Mankind) and the ATTAM Group, Kingdom Rising 2 proved to be a sold-out event, filling seats of a 1500-seated auditorium in a high school in the Bronx.
ATTAM put together a memorable event with the East Coast’s dopest artists, from vets to young gunners (in Marcus Hall’s voice) such as Range The Artist, Y.P. aka Young Paul, Paito, CONQUEST, Q-Flo, Rik Montero, Co-Campbell, Anige Rose, and many more!
Kingdom Rising 2 is what NYC needed to push the sub-genre in NYC to a better place than where it was. Then we got The Vision on March 24th, 2023. It wasn’t as powerful as Kingdom Rising 2, in my opinion, but ATTAM proved to be essential in NYC’s CHH scene with the amount of love and support shown to the artists he brings out.

The sis Kei-Landa hosted a Pray For Hip Hop concert on February 10th, 2023 called “Hip Hop’s Day Off.” It was held in Newark, NJ, featuring an appearance from Newark councilman and member of rap ground Lords Of The Underground. Alongside Be Wise NYC, an at-risk youth program run by Prophet Link, I made the trek to Newark to attend and help out. The youth who volunteered enjoyed the experience and the music! It was deeper than hip-hop, it was community outreach.

A NYC veteran continued to push it even further on April 29th, 2023.
CONQUEST has put together, by far, one of THE BEST album release concerts EVER! I’ve never been to an album release concert where it felt like a real experience! It wasn’t just the artist performing songs from the album, but PRESENTING songs from the album. The blood, sweat, and tears were evident during ‘QUEST’s entire set. You can read about my experience at the concert in this article.

ATTAM pushed CHH in NYC further than where it was in the 2010s. ‘QUEST, a veteran, pushed it even further. They were the spark that the match needed. I am excited about the resurgence of NYC CHH. The rest of the year and 2024 is looking promising.
